This is a classic example of a rental property where overtime the silicone had pulled away from the bath and the seal was broken, which in a shower bath is not good and resulted in a leak that made its way through to the lounge ceiling.
This shows that landlords periodic checks and tenants should should notify their landlord if a simple job needs doing before it becomes a big job and big cost for the landlord.
Luckily this was caught early and the ceiling downstairs needed a dab of paint and blending in and the bath seal replacing.
As an example it was a couple of hours to repair resulting in £100 but if it was left a new ceiling could have been £500-£1000.
